Final Destination 6 has taken a big step forward, as its landed a director. Or rather, its landed two directors.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the franchise revival has signed up Freaks directing duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam B Stein. The MCU Spider-Man trilogy helmer Jon Watts is serving as producer alongside Atlanta's Dianne McGunigle.

Watts also wrote the film's treatment, while the latest Scream film's scriptwriters Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor have penned the screenplay. The plot is being kept under wraps, but the idea of people dying in increasingly gruesome ways remains.
According to the publication, the pair won the directing job during a Zoom call in which a fire broke out behind them. Shortly after putting it out, a fan broke off from the ceiling and decapitated one of the duo. Studio bosses were very impressed with the commitment they had shown, and the apparently seamless integration of visual effects, giving them the gig.
Between 2000 and 2011, the Final Destination franchise released five films that made almost $700 million in total box office, making it New Line Cinema's third best-performing horror franchise, behind The Conjuring series (at $2 billion) and the two It films (at $1 billion).
It's crazy to think this all started out as a spec script for an episode of The X-Files, before becoming the film franchise we know and are terrified of today.

Final Destination 6 is expected to premiere on HBO Max.
