Halloween Ends not only brings the rebooted Halloween trilogy to a close, but also marks Jamie Lee Curtis's final outing as Laurie Strode.

Endings are tricky to get right, especially when it's a long-running series with a big fanbase. Back in October 2021, Curtis had said that the threequel would make people "very angry", but that might not be to do with the ending of the movie.

Talking to Digital Spy, Curtis explained that it's actually the themes of Halloween Ends that could prove to be the divisive element.

What to Read Next

"I've been saying people are going to be angry from the beginning. They're going to be angry because we're saying something about all of us as a society. This is about victims. This is about victim shaming," she noted.

"This is about what happens in a town when we have all become monsters. People don't like to be told they're monsters. You've seen the monsters on Twitter. All that social media has done is really reminded us all that we're monsters, and that we have that power.

"It's a movie about Michael and Laurie coming in for this final inevitable battle between good and evil, but in the midst of it all, it's asking is Michael really just evil or are we all a little bit culpable here?"

Halloween Ends takes place four years after the events of Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills, which took place on the same night. Laurie has tried to move on with her life, but it's not easy when Michael Myers is still around.

This trilogy of movies has seen Curtis take on an executive producer role and while it has mostly meant she's "head cheerleader" for the franchise, she did tease that she had one crucial bit of input for the finale.

"Executive producer means I give good crew gifts and I cheerlead and send food trucks to the crew. You're the head of the team. The director is certainly busy doing what he does and he's great, but that's really what my job [is] as executive producer," she explained.

"I have one small contribution in the narrative part of the filmmaking in this current film, toward the end, where I feel my contribution has made an effect on the movie, but virtually nothing else."

Not long to go now until we find out what that contribution was.

Halloween Ends is released in cinemas on October 14.
