Halloween Ends marks the end of an era for Jamie Lee Curtis as it is her final outing as Laurie Strode, a role she first played in 1978's Halloween.

Set four years after Halloween Kills, the new movie is also the closing chapter of the rebooted trilogy. Laurie has tried to move on from Michael Myers and embrace life, but inevitably, the two are drawn together for one final confrontation.

Talking to Digital Spy, Curtis explained how her focus was now on the future and new projects, but admitted that her final week of filming as Laurie Strode was a challenging one for obvious reasons.

What to Read Next

"That last week in Savannah, Georgia, when I knew every day going to that set was going to be the last time I was going to be Laurie and be with my people, I cried every day," she reflected.

"If I'm not crying, if we're all not crying a little bit, then what have we done? We haven't done anything. We've made contact. You guys have made contact with Laurie, I've made contact with you, that's a relationship. I'm breaking up, it's painful."

Halloween Ends allows Curtis to show off a different side to Laurie, having been relentless in her obsession with Michael Myers in the first two movies of the rebooted trilogy. No spoilers, but she even gets to smile at one point.

It's the seventh time that Curtis has played the iconic character though, and there's always been something that gets her back into the mindset of Laurie.

"Twirling my hair. I, as you can tell, have short hair. I know my hair is getting a little long when I start to try to twirl it," she explained.

"If you look at the original Halloween movie, Laurie Strode twirled her hair, so the minute I get my wig on, I'm twirling. I'm saying seconds after that thing goes on my head, I've got my finger in my hair."

While Halloween Ends will mark the final outing for Laurie, series creator John Carpenter recently said that he doesn't believe it's the end of the franchise itself.

Halloween Ends is released in cinemas on October 14.
