Never Have I Ever star Darren Barnet has landed his next movie role. The actor will appear opposite Orlando Bloom and David Harbour in Gran Turismo.
Gran Turismo tells the true story of a teenager whose gaming skills in the video game Gran Turismo won him a series of Nissan competitions. This led to the gamer becoming an actual professional race car driver.
The movie is directed by Neil Blomkamp, who is best known for his beloved sci-fi movie District 9. Meanwhile, the script will be co-written by Jason Hall, who earned an Oscar nomination for best adapted screenplay for Bradley Cooper's American Sniper. The movie will be released on August 11, 2023.

Barnet stars in the Netflix coming-of-age show Never Have I Ever as Paxton Hall-Yoshida, a popular high school student and the love interest of the main character, Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan).
The series is created by Lang Fisher and The Office's Mindy Kaling. It has run for three seasons so far. Season three aired in August, while a fourth and final season is coming next year.

Barnet also appeared in a brief role as Wilfred Malick in ABC's seventh season of the Marvel TV show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Barnet will star in Gran Turismo opposite The Lord of the Rings' Orlando Bloom and Stranger Things' David Harbour. It is unknown what characters Bloom and Harbour will play, but Barnet will play a character named Matty Davis. Archie Madekwe, who has previously been seen in Midsommar and Apple TV+ series See, has also signed on to appear in an as-yet undisclosed role.
