Matthew McConaughey movie Dallas Sting has been pulled by Skydance Media just weeks before production was scheduled to kick off in New Orleans.
According to Deadline, the real-life sports underdog story raised "impropriety" allegations that were subsequently investigated by the producers, who decided to scrap this Rocky-esque drama as a result.
The Oscar-winning True Detective star was signed on as football coach Bill Kinder, who took a ragtag bunch of Dallas high school females to compete in China close to 40 years ago, where they defeated some of the greatest teams coming out of Australia, Italy and the home nation.

Dopesick's Kaitlyn Dever was set to play Kinder's daughter, while director Kari Skogland (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) had been in line to direct.
McConaughey also dropped out of a Nic Pizzolatto reunion back in November – the TV series Redeemer.

It also previously emerged that the Dallas Buyers Club actor was at one point eager to play The Incredible Hulk.
In a 2020 episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, McConaughey revealed that he threw his "hat in the ring" for the part of Bruce Banner, although Marvel Studios didn't listen.
"I wanted it. [I told Marvel] 'I'm game if you guys are'. They said, 'No, thank you'."
