Disney has shared even more news about the Snow White remake and a Lion King prequel following last weekend's D23 Expo event.

As part of a series of announcements on Thursday (September 15), Snow White arrives on March 22, 2024 and then Mufasa drops on July 5, 2024 (via Variety).

Other new release dates include Elio on March 1, 2024, Next Goal Wins on April 21, 2023, Inside Out 2 on June 14, 2024, Haunted Mansion on August 11, 2023, and Wish on November 22, 2023. An unnamed Marvel movie moves from February to September 6, 2024.

The films were officially unveiled at the Anaheim Convention Centre in California, where fans have gathered to get the latest news from the House of Mouse.

In a series of tweets at the weekend, Disney Studios revealed that the Lion King prequel will be called Mufasa: The Lion King. Barry Jenkins has come on board as the director and the film is currently in production.

The story of Mufasa: The Lion King will be told through flashbacks as Rafiki, Timon and Pumbaa tell the story of Mufasa’s rise from lion cub to becoming one of the greatest kings of the Pride Lands.

They also officially revealed that Snow White’s remake with The Hunger Games prequel actress Rachel Zegler and Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot will be released in 2024. They will star as Snow White and her evil stepmother, the Queen, respectively.

Historically, Snow White has a big significance for Disney as it was their first full-length feature, as well as the first full-length traditionally animated feature film ever. The story of this character itself stretches back to 1812, and the animated movie debuted in 1937.

The latest live action feature is being directed by Marc Webb and will also feature some brand new songs.
