GLOW star Sunita Mani has landed her next lead role in a new horror film called Wilder Than Her.

According to Deadline, the film, which has wrapped production in Guerneville, California, is written and directed by Jessica Kozak. It also stars Kate Easton (When They See Us), Kayla Foster (Call Jane) and Danny Deferrari (Oppenheimer) as supporting actors.

The film is set to examine grief, gaslighting and female friendship with a thriller twist and sees a group of tight-knit friends called Emilia, Finn and Lucey attempting to reconnect on their annual camping trip after the death of their best friend, Bea.

But things take a turn for the worse as strange and uncomfortable incidents happen in the isolated forest all while their friendship is unravelling.

Sunita Mani was last seen in GLOW, which was unceremoniously cancelled by Netflix in 2020 after three seasons in a very surprising move, considering it was already renewed for the fourth season, which was also going to serve as its final one.

The reason, according to series creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, was the COVID-19 pandemic after production was shut down because of it in early 2020.

"COVID has killed actual humans. It's a national tragedy and should be our focus. COVID also apparently took down our show," Flahive and Mensch told Deadline at the time.

"Netflix has decided not to finish filming the final season of GLOW. We were handed the creative freedom to make a complicated comedy about women and tell their stories. And wrestle. And now that's gone."

"There's a lot of shitty things happening in the world that are much bigger than this right now. But it still sucks that we don't get to see these 15 women in a frame together again.

"We'll miss our cast of weirdo clowns and our heroic crew. It was the best job," they added.

A release date for Wilder Than Her has not been revealed. All seasons of GLOW are available to stream on Netflix.
