Halloween Ends will officially wrap up the decades-long franchise that started back in 1978 with the first film about the iconic movie serial killer Michael Myers.
The conclusion to the saga will be taking a unique release approach, however, as the movie will premiere on streaming service Peacock on October 14 – the same day it releases in cinemas. It will be released on paid tiers of the streaming service.
That's how it will work in the US, anyway. Peacock works differently in the UK, so it remains to be seen if the movie will premiere on Peacock in the UK on the same day. The movie will still release in UK cinemas on October 14, however.
The movie, which is the 13th and final instalment of the Halloween saga, was originally intended to release on October 15, 2021, until it was forced to delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Halloween Ends will follow Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strode as she puts the final touches on her memoirs until a chilling murder forces her to finally confront the evil that has filled and fuelled her past.
This will be the final time Curtis will play Laurie after she starred in the first movie in 1978 and went on to play the role a number of times in the following decades, including in the 2018 reboot Halloween and last year's Halloween Kills.
What to Read Next
In a video released on the movie's social media channels, Curtis said: "I'm very proud of our final film Halloween Ends and how it brings the saga to a fitting conclusion."
Speaking about the decision to release the movie simultaneously on Peacock and in cinemas, which Halloween Kills similarly did, Curtis said: "There are people who want to go to the cinema and scream their guts out and other people who want to stay at home and scream their guts out."
"No matter how you watch this final chapter, I hope you'll get people together to scream and cheer and hold your breath until the end," Curtis said.
"We created this for you and we thank you for your years of support and how much you care about this story – and me, your Final Girl."
Halloween Ends will also feature the final appearance of Michael Myers as actor Nick Castle is confirmed to make a cameo appearance.
