John Carpenter has predicted that Halloween Ends might not be the last fans will see of Michael Myers.

The legendary horror director, who directed the original 1978's Halloween, serves as executive producer and composer on the thirteenth Halloween movie.

"If the movie makes money, I don't believe it's the end," Carpenter told Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

"There's a way of when a movie makes money, it seems to resurrect the next one," the filmmaker added.

The upcoming film, directed by David Gordon Green, will see the return of Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode. According to the trailer, the slasher saga's lovers are in for a huge showdown between Laurie and her mass-murdering adversary Michael Myers/The Shape.

Set four years after Halloween Kills, the film sees Laurie living with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) and penning her memoir. However, when Allyson's boyfriend, Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell), is accused of murdering the boy he was babysitting, the killing kicks off a wave of terror, forcing Laurie to confront her past and her brother.

And Carpenter isn't the only one thinking the Halloween Ends might not be the end. Nick Castle, who shares the role of Michael Myers with James Jude Courtney, also believes there might be more to the franchise.

"I think there might be more because of all the success of [this trilogy], but [Green] will have a very surprising storyline, an ending for everyone," he said in July.

"It's absolutely something I don't think you would have ever guessed in terms of the way it's going to unroll."

Halloween Ends is scheduled to be released on October 14, 2022.
