Joker star Zazie Beetz is set to reprise her role as Sophie Dumond in the sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux.
Deadline reports that the actress is currently in talks to return for Joaquin Phoenix's second outing as the Worlds of DC character in the movie – which has been confirmed as being a musical, rather than a drama release.
Beetz previously talked about the sequel being a musical movie and that it "makes wonderful sense", despite it being a very surprising move for many fans.

She explained: "Todd [Phillips, director] has always had a creative approach to the character. I love musicals, and I think of them as the characters are feeling and experiencing so much that they can only sing and dance about it, whether in sorrow or in joy."
Phoenix has had experience singing in movies as he gained an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Johnny Cash in 2005's Walk the Line.
But just to add some vocal star power, Lady Gaga has been brought on board to play Harley Quinn in the sequel, which is set to be released in 2024.

Phillips previously announced the title of the sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux, on his Instagram earlier this year, along with a photo of Joaquin Phoenix reading the script.
The title also reveals a few more details about what to expect from the return of Arthur Fleck, suggesting fans will see an even more fractured character than in the original.
In French, "folie à deux" is a phrase that means "shared psychosis", and it's also defined as a "delusion or mental illness shared by two people in close association".
Joker ends with Arthur locked up in Arkham State Hospital as he dances down the hall, his feet soaked in blood, hinting that he killed his doctor, so this will lead seamlessly into the musical elements of the sequel.
Joker is available to buy on Blu-ray or streaming now. Its sequel Joker: Folie à deux will premiere in cinemas on October 4, 2024.
