Kingsman's Taron Egerton confirms Marvel talks over Wolverine

Kingsman and Rocketman actor Taron Egerton has addressed rumours that he could take over the part of Wolverine from Hugh Jackman... again. But this time, things are a little more hopeful.

Egerton has now publicly established that he's met with Marvel Studios about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, during an interview with New York Times.

He revealed that he has met with Marvel Studio executives, including the company’s president Kevin Feige, and in regards to his ambitions of being the next Wolverine, he said: "I don't think it would be wrong to say that. I'd be excited but I'd be apprehensive as well, because Hugh is so associated with the role that I'd wonder if it'd be very difficult for someone else to do it."

Thanks to Disney, Marvel Studios attained the film rights to all of the X-Men and Fantastic Four characters.

Marvel has not given away any plans to focus attention on Wolverine in forthcoming MCU films or television shows but Taron said: "Hopefully if it does come around, they'll give me a shot."

Although long-time Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman has retired from the mutant life and hung up his claws, Disney's purchase of Fox's entertainment assets has opened all sorts of possibilities for the character.
