The Boys star used Reddit to troll Last Jedi for Scream role

The Boys star Jack Quaid has confirmed his process for getting into his role for Scream 5.

For preparation for his part as Richie Kirsch in the movie, Quaid did the brave thing and went on Reddit under the name /u/Stabhead (which is still active) and trolled some Star Wars fans on the much opinionated The Last Jedi.

"I know this gets 'too much hate' but cmon this just isn't what Star Wars is. I didn't watch a Star Wars movie to think about 'grey' areas of the force," his initial in-character Reddit post said.

It continued: "I don't want to 'let the past die.' I love the original trilogy! So why would you [SPOILERS] let Luke die that way? That's not who his character is! Sorry I've tried to understand but can anyone tell me literally anything that was good about this movie?"

That's certainly a way to push buttons.

A Twitter post of the Reddit comment spread last week, to which The Boys star confirmed: "For the record: Unlike Richie I actually loved TLJ and the people who came to its defense after I posted this warmed my nerd-heart."

In Scream 5, The Last Jedi's Rian Johnson was the director of the highly controversial in-universe series of movies, Stab 8.

Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown) suggested the film didn't stay true to the murder-mystery whodunit structure, as this Ghostface had a new mask and flamethrower with fans hating it.

The fans' anger continued with the film being called Stab instead of Stab 8, and the fact that Sidney Prescott wasn't in the movie. Amber Freeman (Mikey Madison) and Richie wanted to appease the fandom by orchestrating the return of Ghostface.

Meanwhile, Neve Campbell recently revealed she would not be appearing as Sidney Prescott in Scream 6.

Scream 6 comes to cinemas on March 31, 2023.
