The first reactions are in for Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andy Samberg's new movie with Big Mouth's John Mulaney – and it already sounds like it's a hit.
The pair lend their voice talents to Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, based on the classic kids TV series, which blends live action and animation as the two chipmunks reunite three decades after the success of the original series when a fellow cast member goes missing.
Those who have seen the Disney+ movie have heaped praise on it, notably its meta humour – with frequent comparisons to Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
"#chipndalerescuerangers is the closest thing we'll probably ever get to a Who Framed Roger Rabbit sequel. It's borderline insane that this movie even exists," tweeted Collider's Ross Bonaime. "A brilliant combo of self-referential jokes, insane cameos, a love for animation in general, and Lonely Island humor."
Steve Weintraub called it "laugh out loud funny and has more cameos & surprises than a Marvel movie", suggesting it was "easily one of the best Disney+ movies they’ve ever made if not the best".
Randy Jones tweeted: "CHIP N DALE RESCUE RANGERS is as if BOJACK HORSEMAN met ROGER RABBIT. It’s smart, inventive, hilarious, and a satirical love letter/roast to modern animation. This is the real Multiverse of Madness cause the cameos are so mind blowing you’ll be screaming till you lose your voice."

Bloody Disgusting's Meagan Navarro suggested it "uses the WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT blueprint to examine nostalgia and animation history to charming and extremely funny success. I really dug it."
Shahbaz labelled it "THE Multiverse Movie of the year", adding: "Feels every bit like a Who Framed Roger Rabbit sequel with @TheLonelyIsland flair. You're gonna be scanning every frame of this movie to catch all the cameos. Don't miss this movie!"
"Chip 'n Dale: #RescueRangers is Roger Rabbit for Disney Afternoon kids — of which I was one," said Maggie Boccella. "Mulaney and Samberg are ironically the flattest parts of the whole shindig (animation pun not intended), but it all reminds me so much of the films I used to binge as a kid. A+."
SlashFilm's Chris Evangelista went on to call it "a total blast", while Ashley Carter said it was "a funny, nostalgia-filled romp".
