Twin Peaks co-creator David Lynch has shared some bad news for fans hoping he will release a new movie soon.
The filmmaker has been eerily quiet since the release of the mammoth Twin Peaks: The Return until there were rumblings recently he could have a new project in the works with Jurassic World: Dominion star Laura Dern.
Lynch and Dern are long-time collaborators who notably worked together on Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, Inland Empire and, most recently, Twin Peaks: The Return.

Rumours of a new project were started by Variety reporting Lynch would debut a secret project at Cannes that would either be a standalone film project starring Dern or an extended pilot for a long-rumoured series called either Wisteria or Unrecorded Night.
Lynch addressed these rumours in a chat with Entertainment Weekly, insisting there had been a misunderstanding because he isn't bringing any new projects to the Cannes Film Festival.
"I have no new film coming out," he insisted. "That's a total rumor. So there you are. It is not happening. I don't have a project. I have nothing at Cannes. It's unfortunate. It got built up that people thought, 'Oh, that'd be nice.'
"But there is something new, but it's not mine. I don't know whose it is. They say there's something new at Cannes, and they don't say whose it is, and some people thought it was my film, but it's not. So we'll wait and see, and see whose it is."
All Lynch would say is that he's working on "painting and sculpture each day", as well as a restoration of his 1997 movie Lost Highway.
While it looks like these latest reports about a Cannes debut were a mistake, we wouldn't completely close the door on Wisteria / Unrecorded Night or some other Lynch project coming in the future because the filmmaker is notoriously secretive about his work.
