Encanto voice actress Stephanie Beatriz crossed into Moana territory for her audition, it's been revealed.

She's better known as Mirabel Madrigal in Disney's Columbia-themed animation, but to get into the House of Mouse spirit, Beatriz was tasked with taking on Maui's (that's Dwayne Johnson's Moana character) song 'You're Welcome' for the casting team.

Co-director of Encanto, Jared Bush, recently tweeted a snippet of evidence, which impressed the higher-ups enough to animate.

"The scene with Antonio was part of @iamstephbeatz's audition. And it melted our hearts. She ALSO sang a song for that audition, 'You're Welcome' and it was so endearing that amazing animator Tony Smeed brought it to life!" he explained in the caption.

Meanwhile, fellow cast member Diane Guerrero (who voices Mirabel's sister Isabela) previously lauded the movie's representation of Columbian culture.

"To get to do a film like this is incredible. I visit Colombia so much and I've never even seen, like, a cartoon that is based [there]. You know, where you see people eating empanadas, and all the colours of the flag... Our little sandals and all of that stuff being represented. I really do feel seen and I feel like a lot of people here are going to appreciate this film," she told Digital Spy.

"I feel like this is a film that Colombia needs, especially after all the turmoil that it's had and how it's been represented in the media. I think Disney is really doing a good thing and people are really going to love it."

Encanto is now available to stream on Disney+.
