Spider-Man: No Way Home now biggest movie since Avengers: Endgame

Spider-Man: No Way Home has achieved a new box office feat, after becoming the biggest new movie since Avengers: Endgame.

No Way Home's success at the box office has been no secret, but following another weekend of packed cinemas, Variety is reporting that Tom Holland's third Spider-Man movie is now the sixth-highest grossing film in history.

No Way Home's new position puts it ahead of Jurassic World and The Lion King, with its global takings total currently standing at $1.69 billion (£1.25 billion).

As it stands, it's unlikely that No Way Home will make it into the top five, as Avatar, Endgame, Titanic, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Infinity War have all surpassed the $2 billion mark. Still, its impressive reception is not to be sniffed at.

In other Spider-Man news, Andrew Garfield – who, along with Tobey Maguire, reprised his role for No Way Home – has revealed that the suit he wore in the latest movie was actually his original outfit from the second Amazing Spider-Man movie.

Dismissing the idea that the No Way Home team had re-created his Amazing Spider-Man costume, Andrew said: "I still fit, brah."

Revealing that he had to spend a few hours in the gym to get back into the suit, he added: "I had to work on it with my trainer. I was very nervous about that. I was very nervous.

"I was like, no-one wants to see an old, fat guy in a Spider-Man costume."

Garfield also offered some more detail about some of the improvisation that happened on set, a moment that was cut from the final version of the film, and why he'd love to reunite with Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire for a second time.
