The Flash movie has revealed its first proper teaser clip and it certainly doesn't disappoint, as it teases the dramatic return of Michael Keaton to the role of Batman almost 30 years after he last played the character on the big screen.

This weekend's DC Fandome virtual fan event has seen DC fans treated to plenty of first-looks at upcoming film and TV projects, one of which is It director Andy Muschietti's movie adaptation of The Flash.

Actor Ezra Miller, who plays the Scarlet Speedster in the DC movie-verse, introduced the new teaser, which you can watch above, and it immediately becomes clear that we will be watching more than one version of the hero on the big screen, as two Flash's step out of a car that pulls up outside a gated mansion on a misty day.

We then see shots of Barry Allen visiting his mother (Maribel Verdú) in another universe where she is still alive, confirming that this version of the Flash moves so quickly that he can travel to any universe at any point in its timeline.

This sets up the DC multiverse and explains why Barry is able to meet Keaton's incarnation of Batman after he previously shared the screen with Ben Affleck's Caped Crusader in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

Keaton's Batman is heard speaking over the trailer, saying to Barry: "Tell me something. You can go anywhere you want, right? Any timeline. Any universe. Why do you want to stay and fight to save this one?"

Batman then emerges from the shadows with his cowl firmly in view – although sadly, we don't see his face in this teaser – and Barry asks him: "Are you in?"

There's also a final hint that Barry will uncover the Batmobile, as he is seen sweeping a cover off what looks very much like a car before the screen goes black and Barry is heard exclaiming: "Holy..."

The Flash movie will mark Keaton's first appearance as Batman since he took on the superhero role in 1989's Batman and 1992's Batman Returns.

Affleck will also be back in his suit for the movie, having recently described his time on set as "really lovely" and "really fun".

The Flash is currently due for release on November 4, 2022.
