Venom 3 release date – when will Venom: The Last Dance be out in cinemas?

As mentioned above, Venom: The Last Dance is now out in cinemas worldwide following its release on October 25, 2024.

What to Read Next

Other movies in Sony's Spider-Man spin-off universe have been less fortunate, with Kraven the Hunter pushed back again from August 30, 2024 to December 13, 2024, meaning it'll now arrive after Venom 3.

Filming started in June 2023, before being paused by the strikes in July 2023. It officially wrapped up in February 2024.

It might be the final Venom movie, but we can confirm that Venom: The Last Dance has two credit scenes to enjoy.

The first comes mid-credits and then there's one after the credits. Both are teasers for what could be to come in Sony's Spider-Man universe, so stick around if you don't want to miss anything.

Venom 3 runtime – how long is Venom: The Last Dance?

Venom: The Last Dance has been confirmed to run for 108 minutes and 48 seconds, or just shy of one hour and 49 minutes if you prefer.

That's around the same length as Venom and 15 minutes longer than Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

Venom 3 age rating – is Venom: The Last Dance suitable for children?

Like Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, whether children can see it depends on where you live.

In the UK, Venom: The Last Dance is rated 15 for strong violence and language, meaning nobody under the age of 15 can see it in cinemas.

However, in the US, Venom: The Last Dance has been rated PG-13 like the previous two movies. This means anybody under the age of 13 can watch it as long as they're accompanied by an adult.

Venom 3 trailer – watch the Venom: The Last Dance trailer here!

The first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance was released by Sony on June 3, 2024, reuniting us with Eddie and Venom, and giving us first looks at Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor in the movie.

Oh, and also, a Venom horse, naturally.

Sony released the second – and final – trailer for Venom 3 on September 12, 2024 which revealed the new character played by Rhys Ifans (more on him in a bit).

Venom 3 cast – who's in Venom: The Last Dance?

Tom Hardy is, of course, back as Eddie Brock and Venom, while Stephen Graham and Peggy Lu reprise their roles as Patrick Mulligan and Mrs Chen, respectively.

Ted Lasso star Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor are the main newcomers as Dr Teddy Paine and General Strickland, respectively.

Ejiofor's appearance has led to confusion with Marvel fans since he played Mordo in Doctor Strange. Venom is separate to the MCU, but a scene in the trailer sees Ejiofor meet Cristo Fernández's bartender to capture a piece of goo left behind.

The confusion is that this scene definitely took place in the MCU – the Spider-Man: No Way Home post-credits scene, to be precise – so we'll have to wait and see how that's all resolved.

Elsewhere, Rhys Ifans has also been confirmed to appear in Venom 3, and he's also not reprising his role as Dr Curt Connors, aka Lizard, from The Amazing Spider-Man and No Way Home.

Instead, he's playing a character called Martin who Eddie and Venom come across while they're on the run.

Michelle Williams didn't return as Anne for the final movie, with writer/director Kelly Marcel explaining that it was down to a decision to "isolate" Eddie and Venom.

"We wanted to take them away from their comfort zone. We wanted to take them away from everything they knew and everyone they loved, so that they really only had each other to rely on now," she explained.

As for the less-likely to return, unfortunately, we can't see a way for Woody Harrelson to return as Cletus Kasady/Carnage, given that the film ended with Venom biting his head off.

Likewise, a return for Naomie Harris would be odd given Shriek was crushed by falling rubble and a massive church bell... but never say never.

Behind the scenes, Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage screenwriter Kelly Marcel directed the movie, taking over from Andy Serkis. She also returned as the sole screenwriter, developing the story with Hardy as she did for the sequel.

Venom 3 plot – what is Venom: The Last Dance about?

Along with the first trailer, we got the first official synopsis for Venom: The Last Dance.

"Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie's last dance," it reads.

This continues on from the ending of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which saw Eddie become a fugitive.

Of course, the question of whether Venom will finally go head-to-head with Spider-Man won't go away, but it seems unlikely to be happening in this third movie.

No Way Home saw Eddie/Venom briefly transported to the MCU, but he was back in his own universe by the end of it. However, with the multiverse now in play in the MCU and Morbius featuring its own MCU crossover, you can't rule anything out.

The creative teams at Sony and Marvel both seem keen to make it happen, though Marvel's Kevin Feige seemed to hint it wasn't up to him, saying: "I think probably it's up to Sony. Sony has both those characters and has Venom in their world."

Hardy has been vocal about making it happen, but if it does, it might have to be in a future Spidey movie with Venom 3 confirmed to be the final Venom movie.
