Schitt's Creek, The Good Place and Bridgerton will all be represented in new romantic comedy movie The People We Hate at the Wedding, which will be headlined by I, Tonya star Allison Janney, Frozen's Kristen Bell and Dear Evan Hansen actor Ben Platt.

Amazon Studios has confirmed that production has now begun on the Amazon Original film, which is adapted from Grant Ginder's 2017 novel of the same name.

The People We Hate at the Wedding focuses on struggling American siblings Alice (Bell) and Paul (Platt), who reluctantly agree to accompany their mum Donna (Janney) to the wedding of their estranged half-sister Eloise in the English countryside.

As the wedding week unfolds, the family's numerous skeletons – including an ongoing affair, a struggling relationship and a drug habit – are exposed and the family reunion gives everyone present the motivation to push their own lives forward.

The movie will also star Schitt's Creek actor Dustin Milligan, Bridgerton's Julian Ovenden, Power star Cynthia Addai-Robinson and Black Panther's Isaach De Bankolé.

The cast is rounded out by Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping actor and Lonely Island member Jorma Taccone, Deadpool star Karan Soni and Lovecraft Country's Tony Goldwyn.

The film will be directed by Set It Up director Claire Scanlon, with the script being written by Bob's Burgers writers Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin and Wendy Molyneux.

The People We Hate at the Wedding will debut exclusively on Prime Video worldwide next year.

The movie marks the latest collaboration between Amazon Studios and FilmNation Entertainment, who have previously worked together on the Kumail Nanjiani-starring romantic comedy The Big Sick and time-loop comedy The Map of Tiny Perfect Things, starring Kathryn Newton.
