Shazam! 2 will feature forgotten detail from first movie

Shazam! Fury of the Gods, the highly-anticipated sequel to Shazam!, will soon be hitting theatres and director David F. Sandberg has confirmed that the new intro for the DC Extended Universe will be featured in the new movie.

The intro, which you can watch above, shows various DC universe heroes, like Superman and Aquaman, in a Marvel-like clip which will promote continuity for the wider universe.

He captioned the video: "People freaked out when I forgot to put this intro in the first Shazam. Well, it's currently in the sequel. Let's see if it stays. I mean who knows, by 2023, they could have a new logo or something."

Many other DC films feature the intro, including Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman.

The new film will see Billy Batson (Zachary Levi) and his alter-ego battling against new villains played by Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu, making the stakes even higher as he evolves into the hero he is meant to be.

Warner Bros. developed the intro prior to the release of 2017's Wonder Woman, and it has been included in almost every DC film in the past four years.

It is expected that the intro will be used for the four movies coming in 2022, including Shazam! 2. The intro is obviously unrelated to the plot of the Shazam! sequel, but it is expected to place the movie further into the centre of the DC universe.

Filming for Shazam! 2 is officially complete, but fans will have to wait a bit longer to see how the superhero fares against his new adversaries.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods will premier on June 2, 2023.
