Venom: Let There Be Carnage director Andy Serkis has weighed in on whether there will ever be a Spider-Man crossover.
In the original comics, the man-eating symbiote is one of Peter Parker's greatest foes, but Tom Hardy and Tom Holland's cinematic incarnations are yet to encounter each other – Sony Pictures controls Venom while Marvel Studios are involved with the rights to the current Spidey.
However, with the duo more popular than ever, fans are clamouring to see the pair on screen together to battle it out.

"Look, that's the question on everyone's lips," Serkis recently told IGN. "They want to know if Venom is gonna meet Spider-Man, but personally, it's never gonna happen.
"I'm only joking, of course it's gonna happen!"

Hardy himself revealed in August that he'd been badgering bosses behind the scenes about a crossover.
"I would be remiss if I wasn't trying to steer any kind of connectivity. I wouldn't be doing the job if I wasn't awake and open to any opportunity or eventuality or be excited by that," he said.

"Obviously, that's a large canyon to leap, to be bridged by one person alone, and it would take a much higher level of diplomacy and intelligence, sitting down and talking, to take on an arena such as that.
"Should both sides be willing, and it be beneficial to both sides, I don't see why it couldn't be. I hope and strongly, with both hands, push, eagerly, towards that potential, and would do anything to make that happen, within what's right in business.
"But it would be foolish not to head towards the Olympic Games if you were running 100 metres, so yeah! I want to play on that field."
Venom: Let There Be Carnage opens in cinemas on October 1 in the US and is currently set for October 15 in the UK.
