Argylle, the star-studded spy thriller led by Henry Cavill, is expected to launch a franchise at Apple TV+.

According to Deadline, Apple Original Films is about to close a $200 million worldwide rights deal on the film directed by Matthew Vaughn. The deal is for one movie, but Apple hopes to launch a franchise.

Announced earlier this summer, Argylle is an adaptation of the soon-to-be-launched spy novel of the same name from author Ellie Conway. The film features Henry Cavill as the world's greatest spy caught in a globe-trotting adventure.

Alongside the Justice League star, the cast also includes John Cena, Bryan Cranston, Bryce Dallas Howard, Samuel L. Jackson, Catherine O'Hara and Sam Rockwell. Grammy-winning singer Dua Lipa will also make her screen acting debut, as well as providing music for the movie.

"I'm thrilled to team with Apple and bring the most compelling spy thriller I've ever read to the only streaming service that can create a franchise of this scale and quality for global audiences to experience," Vaughn said of the deal with Apple.

"When I read this early draft manuscript I felt it was the most incredible and original spy franchise since Ian Fleming's books of the '50s. This is going to reinvent the spy genre," he declared.

The film is currently in pre-production and is set to start shooting shortly in Europe.

Argylle currently has no scheduled release date.
