Kevin Feige open to Scarlett Johansson return after Black Widow

Marvel boss Kevin Feige has said that he'd be happy to continue collaborating with Scarlett Johansson after Black Widow.

Johansson is returning as Natasha Romanoff – she first appeared in the MCU 11 years ago – now the Black Widow has been given her own story.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Feige said that Johansson is an "amazing partner" for Marvel and detailed some of the things she's done behind the scenes to help bring the Black Widow production to life.

Feige explained: "Marvel is always about new beginnings and Scarlett Johansson is such an amazing partner for us.

"She was a producer on this film. She was the one that brought us our amazing director, Cate Shortland, and I am excited to continue working with her in any way possible if we're so lucky."

Black Widow is not an origin story, instead, it follows on from the events in Captain America: Civil War and gives us an insight into Natasha's past. The movie also sets up a story for a potential successor.

Explaining how Johansson wanted to make the movie, Feige said something that was "important" for the actress was creating a "new ensemble" for the Black Widow movie.

"It was important to Scarlett that she wanted to create a new ensemble for this film, to inform people about Natasha's past, about her origins. And that meant a new family that we hadn't seen before," he revealed.

Black Widow is out in cinemas on July 7 in the UK and on Disney+ with Premier Access on July 9. In the US it will be released on July 9 both in cinemas and on Disney+ with Premier Access.
