Marvel's Sebastian Stan has revealed the awkward way he learnt about being offered the role of Bucky Barnes.
It's fair to suggest Stan was relatively unknown before his MCU explosion – stints in Gossip Girl, Once Upon a Time and Hot Tub Time Machine paid the bills. So you'd imagine that Kevin Feige's call would be one he'll remember forever, if only he had picked up.
In conversation with Variety, Stan lifted the lid on how he found out he got the role of Bucky through a voicemail from Marvel boss Kevin Feige.

"It was April 1, April Fool's Day. I was on set working on something and then this unknown number called me, and I don't usually pick up unknown numbers," he began.
"I kept shooting, and then, an hour or two later, I finally looked at my voicemail, clicked on it, and it was Kevin. He was like, 'Hey, we're trying to reach you. Just want to let you know that we'd love to do this with you. We'd love for you to play James 'Bucky' Barnes. Give me a call back.'
"He was very casual about it all."
The star then continued: "It was a really crazy day but it was one of those days when there is nothing better than being on set and already working on a job and you know you have something else coming up.
"And in those days I really never knew what was going to happen next and so it was a really nice call."

Despite sending the studio's head honcho to voicemail, Stan managed to keep hold of his role as the mechanical-armed hero-turned-villain-turned-hero and has reprised the character many times over the last decade since debuting in Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011.
The actor's most recent appearance came as a co-lead in this year's Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
