Mamma Mia star Amanda Seyfried has revealed she turned down a role in Guardians of the Galaxy because she thought the movie would 'bomb'.
The actress was offered the part of Gamora in the Marvel franchise, before Zoe Saldana ended up landing the role.
Seyfried has previously explained that she wasn't too keen on sitting in make-up for several hours to be painted green, but now she's revealed she had doubts about the franchise as a whole, thinking no one would want to see a movie "about a talking tree and racoon". She was a bit wrong.

"I didn't want to be part of the first Marvel movie that bombed," she told The Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter podcast. "I said, 'Who wants to see a movie about a talking tree and a racoon?' Which is clearly – I was very wrong."
She continued: "The script was great, it was all based on not wanting to be 'that guy'. Because if you're the star of a giant movie like that, and it bombs, Hollywood does not forgive you.
"I've seen that happen to people and it was a giant, giant fear. I thought, is it worth it?"

Perhaps what someone should have told her was that the tree and racoon were voiced by Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper, respectively.
Guardians of the Galaxy went on to receive rave reviews from critics and was the third most financially successful film of 2014.
Elsewhere, Seyfried is currently receiving Oscar buzz for her role in David Fincher's Mank, which is now streaming on Netflix.
