Disney+ subscribers who are keen to watch the new live-action adaptation of Mulan when it's released won't all be paying the same amount to see it, as it's been confirmed that not all countries will be offering the movie for an additional cost.

It was announced in early August that Mulan, which was supposed to be released theatrically in March, will be made available on Disney+ following several release date delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, with an additional cost being incurred on top of the monthly or annual subscription fee.

While US audiences are expecting to pay $29.99 to see the blockbuster and UK viewers will pay £19.99, Variety has reported that subscribers in France will not have to pay an additional sum at all and that the movie will be available to watch at no extra cost.

However, this does mean that French fans will wait longer to see it, with Variety reporting that the film won't be released on September 4 there as in the UK and US but will be available at an unspecified later date.

Other European countries such as Spain and Italy will pay €21.99 while in Australia the price is AUS$34.99 and in New Zealand it will cost NZ$39.99.

Disney CEO Bob Chapek had previously confirmed that the price point "will vary slightly" in different countries.

If you don't have Disney+, you'll be able to watch Mulan by paying to see it through Apple, Google or Roku. In countries where the film is not available to stream, it will be released in cinemas.

The live-action Mulan received a wave of positive reviews after its premiere earlier this year, with one critic calling it "one of the best live-action adaptations of a Disney animated classic".

The new movie stars Liu Yifei as Mulan, a young woman who defies tradition and the law when she disguises herself as a man and joins the army to avoid her aging father being called up to fight.

Jet Li stars as The Emperor of China while Donnie Yen plays Mulan's mentor Commander Tung and Yoson An stars as Mulan's ally Chen Honghui.

Mulan will be available on Disney+ from September 4 in the US and UK.
