Captain Marvel star Brie Larson has opened up about her failed audition for Terminator: Genisys, revealing the odd reason why she missed out on a role in the movie.

The Oscar winner tried for a role in the 2015 movie, though it is unclear whether it was for Sarah Connor (which eventually went to Emilia Clarke) or another smaller part.

However, it seems Larson's apparent inability to hold a gun in the eyes of producers cost her a shot at a role.

Speaking on her YouTube channel, the actress recalled: "Terminator – I tested for it. When I was pulling into the audition for it, I got a flat tyre.

"I did my audition a couple of days later. I found out that I didn't get it, and I got no feedback whatsoever other than 'no, it wasn't going to happen'. And I was always like, 'why didn't I get that?' I felt like I did a really good job, I didn't understand.

"Then months later my manager called and was like, 'we got the feedback finally, and they said they didn't think that you knew how to carry a gun.'

"And I was like, 'ok that would make sense if I carried a gun in the audition.' I never held a gun.

"I mean I'm grateful because I don't want to hold a gun in a movie. But I just thought it was funny that in their head they thought I couldn't hold a gun, so I didn't get the job."

Alongside the Terminator franchise, Larson recently revealed she tried for a role in the Star Wars franchise when she auditioned for Rogue One, and while she didn't confirm which part it was exactly, it was likely for Jyn Erso, which Felicity Jones eventually bagged.
