The much-anticipated and star-studded movie Dune is due to start reshoots in Hungary in August ahead of its December release, as the European country becomes one of the first to give the green light amid the ongoing pandemic.
Oscar Isaac – who plays Duke Leto Atreides in the upcoming movie – has confirmed to Deadline that reshoots are going ahead, marvelling at how close the movie's release date now is.
"We’re going to do some additional shooting in mid August… they’re saying in Budapest in Hungary," said Isaac.
"I saw some things cut together and it just looks amazing.

"Denis [Villeneuve] is a real artist and it will be exciting to see it come together. It’s kind of wild that we’re doing some additional shooting a few months before it’s supposed to come out, but that happened with Star Wars as well."

They'll be working under a tight deadline, as Dune is still due to be released at the end of the year despite numerous release delays for other movies due to the crisis.
The Denis Villeneuve-directed movie stars Isaac, Doctor Sleep's Rebecca Ferguson, Timothée Chalamet, Oscar winner Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, Zendaya and Chernobyl's Stellan Skarsgård.

Isaac has made no secret of the "nightmare" nature of the movie – he told Entertainment Weekly last year that audiences can expect to see "a wholly, wholly different thing".
"There are some things that are — for lack of a better word — nightmarish about what you see… There's just this kind of brutalist element to it," he said.
"It's shocking. It's scary. It's very visceral."
Dune is scheduled to hit US cinemas on December 18, 2020.
