It looks like we haven't seen the last of Henry Cavill as Superman.

The Witcher actor is currently in talks with Warner Bros about reprising his Man of Steel, according to Deadline, although it's not yet clear what for.

It could simply be additional footage for next year's Snyder Cut of Justice League, or something more substantial like a future appearance in an upcoming DC film. However, it apparently won't be a standalone movie.

Warner Bros gave no comment when reached.

If it is to be another DC film he's in, it won't be Wonder Woman 1984 or The Suicide Squad as both have wrapped production, while Superman isn't expected to make a cameo in Robert Pattinson's The Batman, either.

However, it is possible he could turn up in Shazam 2, Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam or Aquaman 2, which are the next productions to get going once coronavirus filming restrictions are lifted.

Cavill first appeared as Clark Kent in 2013's Man of Steel. He followed that up in 2016 with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, then 2017's Justice League.

He was then lined up for more appearances in DC movies – including a scrapped cameo in Shazam! – but it was speculated in September 2018 that he'd given up the role.

Cavill responded at the time with a cryptic video, which didn't really confirm or deny the speculation, but insisted last November that the cape is "still mine".

It seems he wasn't lying about that.
