James Bond has been saving the world on screen for nearly 60 years now, but it turns out one Bond in particular, Pierce Brosnan, is a real-life hero.

Speaking (via video chat) on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Brosnan's Die Another Day co-star Halle Berry revealed that he saved her from choking on set.

Berry described a scene in the film which was "supposed to be all sexy". She was told to "try to seduce him with a fig," but she ended up choking on it!

"He had to get up and do the Heimlich. So not sexy," she continued. "You should have seen it.

"James Bond knows how to Heimlich. He was there for me. He will always be one of my favourite people in the whole world."

Berry played Bond girl Jinx Johnson in Bronson's final outing as 007, released in 2002.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Bond producer Barbara Broccoli had wanted Berry's character to get her own spin-off movie, but MGM decided against it because of its $80 million budget.

Broccoli wasn't happy with the decision and it has led her in more recent years to create stronger female characters to play opposite Bond.

However, Broccoli has said that she believes 007 should be played by a male actor.

"I believe we should be creating new characters for women – strong female characters," she explained.

"I'm not particularly interested in taking a male character and having a woman play it. I think women are far more interesting than that."

No Time to Die, the 25th James Bond movie, has a new release date of November 12 in the UK and November 25 in the US. All the previous Bond movies are available on DVD or Blu-ray.
