If you thought the debate over whether or not Die Hard is a Christmas movie was causing too much division, you might want to avoid this next one altogether.
Because Marvel has officially declared that Iron Man 3 is, in fact, a Christmas movie.
Sure, it was released in May – only seven months before Christmas – but its story was set around the holiday season.

Posting on the film's Twitter account on Thursday (December 19), the studio simply wrote: "Iron Man 3 is a Christmas movie."
The tweet even included a nice bloodied GIF of Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark bemusing: "Screw it, it's Christmas." You don't get more festive than that.

Marvel also backed up its stance with a lengthy article on its website.
It reads: "The plot of Iron Man 3 could honestly take place at any time of the year – considering it's not wholly dependent on its Christmas setting.
"But, the fact that it does take place at Christmas makes it a clear contender for a true Christmas movie, and we're here to say, once and for all, that it deserves a place in the Christmas Movie Hall of Fame.
"Proclaiming this, of course, brings up the age-old debate as to what actually qualifies something as a Christmas movie, and your mind probably wanders to that argument over the likes of Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Gremlins, and Rocky IV.
"Hey, if those are allowed to be classified as Christmas movies, so is Iron Man 3."

Hmm. A persuasive argument. The article goes on to say that the essence of the storyline is also what makes it a Christmas movie, which is also kind of hard to disagree with.
You know, despite that whole national terrorism campaign on the United States led by Mandarin.
Naturally, there were some Marvel diehards who agreed with the studio's position.
But others weren't so sure.
