Netflix's The Christmas Chronicles was a surprisingly solid festive movie when it dropped last year, so it's not surprise that the streaming giant is now working on a sequel.
Unfortunately, Netflix isn't stealth dropping it this year, but a very solid bit of casting has been announced.
Hunt for the Wilderpeople star Julian Dennison, who broke through with his role in last year's Deadpool 2, will be joining Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.

The 17-year old (!) star will be playing Belsnickel, a magical troublemaker from folklore who wants to cause mischief.
The Oath actor Jahzir Bruno will also be joining the sequel, while the original's Kimberly Williams Paisley and Judah Lewis will be returning as Claire and Teddy.

One person who won't be returning is director Clay Kaytis.

Instead, Chris Columbus will be stepping behind the chair. He's best known for directing Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, which are just so warm and fuzzy and treacly compared to the later ones, so it makes sense.
The Christmas Chronicles 2 is on track to be released on Netflix in time for the holiday season in 2020.
