Avengers: Endgame's writers have admitted they are glad that Captain America's ending left fans confused.
Steve Rogers's story came to its conclusion with the superhero deciding to remain in the past to live with Peggy Carter, though some were left scratching their heads over which timeline he was in.
Asked if it was good that people were asking these questions – or whether they were missing the obvious – co-writer Stephen McFeely responded to Vanity Fair: "Oh, it’s great!"
"Those are unsatisfied questions. Those are intrigued questions. I'm delighted at people still chewing over this thing," added fellow writer Christopher Markus.
"You know, if it's, That's stupid and I don't like it and I'm talking about it because it was dumb, that's one thing. But if it's, I honestly don't know, and it's kind of cool to think about, that's great."
The writers have also been opening-up about their "only regret" regarding the death of Black Widow, with McFeely arguing that its timing in the movie may have dented its emotional impact.

"She jumps on the grenade," he said. "I'm really proud of that moment. I don't have any regrets.
"The only regret is that it comes at the end of Act Two. So you can't really roll around in the grief because we've got another hour of movie and we haven't solved the A-plot problem. So that's the downside."
