Note: Contains spoilers for It Chapter Two.
It Chapter Two is now terrifying audiences worldwide, but we really should have been better prepared for one of its major moments.
A rewatch of the horror sequel's trailers reveal that they were spoiling something big in plain sight. Sure, all trailers technically spoil stuff when you know the context, it's just that in this case it's quite blatant.
But in case you're still completely spoiler-free, don't read on as spoilers await.
So, the Losers might emerge victorious against Pennywise in the movie's final battle, but not without cost.
Eddie (James Ransone) was killed after Pennywise (as a giant spider, naturally) impaled him. It's a massive gut punch, especially because of how Richie (Bill Hader) reacts to it, although we should have known that Eddie wouldn't last to the end.

And it's not because it happens in the book. Instead, look back at the first trailer and in the montage of shots at the end, there's a very telling shot that's taken from near the end of the movie.
We see adult Beverly (Jessica Chastain), Ben (Jay Ryan), Bill (James McAvoy), Mike (Isaiah Mustafa) and Richie looking into a window and seeing their younger selves looking back at them – all seven of them, including Eddie and Stan (we'll get to him in a bit).
Sure, Eddie might have just popped into the shop, but given the whole idea was for the Losers to come back to Derry to defeat Pennywise together and every other group shot has Eddie in it, then alarms bells should have been ringing for any Eddie fans.
Spare a thought though for adult Stan (Andy Bean), as at least Eddie's absence is subtle.

Stan doesn't feature in any of the trailers except for flashback shots, and in the final trailer, we get a series of shots of the young Losers Club merging into their older selves. Well, everyone except Stan, that is.

It would have been hard for Warner Bros to hide Stan's absence in Derry, of course, so it makes sense we don't see him at the Jade of the Orient scene in the trailer.
But we could at least have had a shot of Stan somewhere in the trailer, such as in the Losers Club montage, as a misdirect.
Not everyone watching It Chapter Two will have read Stephen King's book, so they might not know Stan takes his own life rather than returning to Derry. By not having him in the trailers, it's pretty obvious that something happens to him.
Doesn't make it any less tragic though.
It Chapter Two is in cinemas now.
