Note: This article contains spoilers for Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home.
First came 'the Snap' then 'the Decimation' and now thanks to Spider-Man: Far From Home, we have 'the Blip' – but which is the correct term for Thanos's apocalyptic mayhem in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame?
We feel like the second option gives the whole thing a rightful horrific grandeur, but MCU fans are struggling to agree on a universal name for it over on Reddit.
Or maybe, there's actually a difference between each one.

Thanks to Reddit user 'Drop_Release', we now have an active conversation online discussing what each one essentially means.

They wrote: "I have seen many think the Blip term was utilised to describe the whole Snap process. Blip is only used for the instance of those being unsnapped."
Another user responded in the thread: "The Blip is the entire process. Remember the guy on the plane [in Far From Home] said his wife pretended to be Blipped so she could run off with some guy? He clearly meant she pretended to disappear when the IW [Infinity War] Snap happened, not pretended to reappear when Hulk brought everybody back."
Someone else chimed in: "It's worth remembering that "Decimation" is only a thing in a comic tie-in, and has never been uttered on-screen in film/TV."

And down the rabbit hole we go, as another fan shared: "The Blip essentially replaced the Snap/Decimation. The original term lost all relevance after Hulk snapped everybody back into existence.
"So before Endgame, there was only the Decimation. But after Endgame, everybody started calling it the Blip in light of its ultimately happy ending."
Has anyone else got a migraine right now?
Avengers: Endgame is out now.
