The cast of X-Men: Dark Phoenix have opened up to Digital Spy about the massive amount of deleted scenes that fans may never see.

It's no secret that the latest X-Men movie underwent three months of reshoots and delays in the run-up to release, including a near-total overhaul of the movie's original ending.

When we recently chatted to the cast, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy revealed some hilarious deleted moments from X-Men films past — including Magneto in drag and a fight with a giant.

"I had a scene in this one where I'm sitting at the grave of somebody I cared about very much where I had a speech that got [cut]," McAvoy also told us. "Everyone who wrote it said, 'That was really good. That was really emotional'. Totally cut!"

Storm actress Alexandra Shipp mentioned that she filmed "a lot of hand-to-hand combat" that didn't make into the finished film either, whereas Evan Peters (aka Quicksilver) complained that his retro gaming sequence was scrapped.

"I was playing SEGA Game Gear in my bed, and then I get the call, 'Oh, X-Men report'," he recalled. "That would have been cool. It's not in the film!"
