Following that tense first trailer for IT: Chapter Two, its screenwriter has confirmed that two harrowing moments from the original book will be in the movie.
Stephen King's novel features a particularly brutal scene of a young gay man named Adrian Mellon being beaten in a hate crime by a group of youths, before being killed by Pennywise the clown.
Writer Gary Dauberman has now revealed that it will be depicted in the new movie – with Xavier Dolan playing Adrian – after being left out of the 1990 miniseries.
"It is an iconic scene in the book and one we wanted to include in the movie," he explained to The Hollywood Reporter.
"It is the first attack in present-day Derry and sets the stage for what Derry has become. It is the influence of Pennywise even while he is hibernating, and it's pure evil what happens to Adrian. These bullies working through Pennywise was important for us to show."
Another key part of the book that will be in Chapter Two is the adult Beverly Marsh's (Jessica Chastain) domestic abuse storyline, with Dauberman saying: "We try to be true to the novel."

The new movie's trailer depicted Beverly as she returns home to Derry and visits an old woman, though Pennywise is up to his old tricks again pretty quickly. We also get a first glimpse of the grown up Losers' Club.
It: Chapter 2 is out on September 6 in the US and UK.
