The Abbott family are going to be travelling with a mysterious ally in A Quiet Place 2.

Writer, director and star John Krasinski's follow-up to the smash-hit horror blockbuster is gearing up to begin production by recruiting the gang leader from hit period drama Peaky Blinders.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cillian Murphy is being eyed to join the sequel as a man with questionable intentions who teams up with the Abbotts. That sounds alarming…

Murphy has double-crossed his fair share of people playing crime boss Tommy Shelby in the BBC series. Let's not forget that he was also the Scarecrow in Christopher Nolan's Batman movies.

THR reports that the first film's young cast members Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe have also both signed on to reprise their roles as the Abbott children as well.

John Krasinski and Emily Blunt both signed up to return for the sequel last week, although Krasinski is currently only expected to be working as writer and director on A Quiet Place 2.

Last year, the filmmaker hinted to Digital Spy that he'd come up with a "good idea" that he wanted to explore for a sequel — but that probably wouldn't involve resurrecting his character Lee after his tragic demise.

"Basically, I come back as a ghost," he joked to us last summer. "That's the idea I had last week. It's really good, guys! Don't worry, it's not cheesy at all!"
