It's been 10 years since Zombieland graced us all with an undead Bill Murray, and rumours of a sequel have been rife ever since.
Thankfully, Zombieland 2: Double Tap was confirmed in July 2018, with the original cast of Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson and Abigail Breslin all definitely returning.
But what's taken so long to get the zombie comedy's follow-up alive and kicking, so to speak?
Well, in a wide-ranging interview with the Toronto Sun, Eisenberg has revealed that the 10-year hold-up was simply down to the writing team wanting to find the right idea for a sequel.
"We would never have made another one if we didn’t think it was going to be great. They wrote a ton of scripts for this movie and we went through a lot of different ideas," said Eisenberg.
"Finally, we have something I think people are going to love. I hesitate trying to characterise it now, but we are all very happy.

"We didn’t want to do a typical sequel to try and capitalise on something that was popular. We waited 10 years until we had a great idea."
Ruben Fleischer, the film's director, has teased that the sequel will match the real-life gap between the two movies, so don't expect the four stars to be exactly the same as we left them.
Zombieland 2: Double Tap is scheduled for release in the UK and US on October 11, 2019 – a little over 10 years since the arrival of the first film.
