Following on from our first look at Taron Egerton's impressive singing in Rocketman, we've now had a new trailer for the musical fantasy biopic.

The trailer is the best look yet at the movie about Elton John's breakthrough years, featuring scenes with Jamie Bell as Elton's long-time writing partner Bernie Taupin, Bodyguard's Richard Madden as Elton's first manager John Reid and Bryce Dallas Howard as Elton's mother Sheila Farebrother.

Earlier this week, Paramount released a behind-the-scenes featurette for the musical fantasy biopic that shows Taron signing 'Tiny Dancer'. Alongside some footage from the movie, it has director Dexter Fletcher singing his lead star's praises.

"Taron is an actor of incredible range," Fletcher enthused. "Taron is actually singing in the film and he’s so convincing. His voice is incredible."

According to music producer Giles Martin, even Elton is impressed by Taron's singing: "Elton said, 'I don’t think I have heard anyone sing my songs better than Taron'."

Now that's some praise.

For the movie, photographer David LaChapelle – who has created some of Elton's most iconic imagery – has captured the movie's lead star for the official poster.

The movie reunites Taron Egerton with his Eddie the Eagle director Dexter Fletcher, who also took over from Bryan Singer on Bohemian Rhapsody.

Last year, Taron was keen to point out that Rocketman isn't a biopic in the traditional sense. "It's a fantasy musical so it's actually his songs used to express important beats in his life at emotional moments. He's not the only character that sings," he explained.

Rocketman is released in cinemas in May.
