Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely will write First Avenger: Captain America for Marvel Studios.

The pair, who had a hand in both the recent Narnia films, will team with director Joe Johnston to bring the comic book superhero to screens for 2011, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Based on a character created in 1941 by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon, the blockbuster will focus on a weak man called Steve Rogers who is injected with an experimental serum that transforms him into a muscular superhero.

First Avenger: Captain America will be set during World War II and lead into Marvel's modern-day ensemble movie The Avengers. Both movies are being targeted for a summer 2011 release.
