Fans of the original Gears of War are in for a treat if this rumor proves to be true.
A remastered version of the 2006 third-person shooter is reportedly in development for Xbox One at Splash Damage, according to Polygon.
The unconfirmed report spurs from several job listings from the studio that say it's working on a "very well known and highly popular AAA title with next gen technology".
Another source says the re-release for Xbox One will boast enhanced visuals and reworked cutscenes.
Microsoft acquired the Gears of War property from Epic Games in 2014, a move that was praised by designer and former Epic director Cliff Bleszinski.
The publisher recently ruled out plans to create a Gears of War HD Collection.
