Will Ferrell - legendary comedian, Hollywood superstar… exotic animal expert?!?

The Anchorman star popped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert following last night's Super Bowl to share his passion for all creatures great and small. And furry.

"I just noticed your Late Show is kind of new and you don't really have an animal expert yet. I thought I could step in and fill the gap," the friendly Ferrell explained.

"I thought you were going to talk about Zoolander 2," a confused Stephen Colbert admitted.

"I'm not really focused on that now," Ferrell replied. "It's all about the animals!"

One of those creatures was the Peruvian mongoose. Don't let its resemblance to a kitty fool you, this little guy is feisty and prone to attack.

Next up was a Mongolian bush tiger (i.e. guinea pig) - although maybe the more alarming development was Will suddenly brandishing a gun.

"If this bush tiger escapes, I've got to take it down. It's the last one in existence, so it's got nothing to lose," he barked.

By the end of the segment, Stephen Colbert was literally crying tears of laughter. A moment of triumph for sure - but does it top Will's previous late-night romp as Lil' Debbie?
