An I'm a Celebrity viewer has racked up a phone bill of £1,158 voting for Emmerdale star Lucy Pargeter to win.

Nicole Hassall spent six hours on the phone after Wednesday night's (December 4) airing of the reality show, repeatedly making calls to ITV's premium-rate voting line, reports The Mirror.

The 18-year-old said: "I did vote but I really wanted Lucy or Kian from Westlife to win.

"I had no idea the bill would be this much. I'm really upset."

Hassall's mother Eileen had initially saved up £250 to spend on her daughter's Christmas present, but will now use that money to pay part of the bill.

Eileen complained that she wasn't notified by network provider Orange about the large bill until Saturday morning (December 7).

She stated: "It's absolutely disgusting that Orange didn't let me know what was happening."

Orange has agreed to waive half of the remaining amount, leaving the family with a £454 bill outstanding.

An ITV spokesman said: "In the voting terms and conditions, it says voters should only vote with the bill payer's permission. We are happy to explore this issue if we are provided with more information."

Pargeter finished in third place, behind fashion designer David Emanuel and eventual winner Kian Egan.
