A petition asking for the royal baby to be given a Lion King welcome has been rejected by the UK government.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge became parents to a baby boy at 4.24pm on Monday (July 22).
Petition creator Tommy Peto was hoping that the royals would replicate an iconic scene from the popular Disney film The Lion King, where a baby Simba is held aloft by the wise old mandrill Rafiki in front of a gathering crowd of animals.
He stated: "The Archbishop of Canterbury should hold the royal baby aloft on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, much like a young Simba was to the animals of the Serengeti."
However, the request was turned down as it was deemed an issue that was "outside the responsibility of the government".
Earlier this morning (July 24), the Queen was spotted meeting Prince William and Kate Middleton's newborn son for the first time.
