The mayor of St Edmundsbury is recovering after crashing his car into a local Tesco Express.
Terry Buckle, who had only been appointed the mayor in Suffolk last week, drove a silver Vauxhall Vectra through the supermarket doors on Thursday.
It is thought that the car lurched forward from a parking bay directly in front of the store.
He was not physically injured but suffered shock and was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Terry's wife Pam told the East Anglian Daily Times: "He's home now. He's fine and he had an X-ray on his neck and he's just a bit sore. He's gone to bed with some tablets."
