The Phoenix has shared an exclusive preview of issue #140.

Digital Spy has been given a look at Gary Northfield's new Gary's Garden strip, which headlines this week's edition of the anthology.

The issue's solicitation reads: "This week we have the Great Garden Bake Off in Gary's Garden. Jake, Rowena and Vanessa are tasked with creating a classic leaf pie… but who will cook up a winner and who will choke?"

Issue #140 also includes a kidnapping in The Picture Wife, moo-moo-mayhem in Bunny vs Monkey, the colourful conclusion to Class Clown, squid parps in Squid Bits, roadblocks & renegades in Red Jack, and the black tower in Von Doogan.

Northfield is a British cartoonist, best known for his comic character Derek the Sheep, who featured in DC Thomson's The Beano and BeanoMAX.

The Phoenix #140 will be released online, through the iPad app and in stores (for £2.99) from tomorrow (September 6).
