A Torchwood TV revival might not happening anytime soon, but the cheeky exploits of Captain Jack Harkness will continue in a new form.

Titan Comics is teaming up with series star John Barrowman and his sister Carol E Barrowman to release a brand new Torchwood comic series (via i09).

These comics will be set in the same continuity as Torchwood's on-going Big Finish audio drama range, with Captain Jack Harkness returning to his old stomping grounds in Cardiff.

Reunited with Torchwood colleague Gwen Cooper and her husband Rhys, the trio are on the hunt for dangerous technology stolen by a shadowy group.

The first tissue of Torchwood's comic series hits the US and the UK on July 6.

Titan Comics also publishes a whole range of Doctor Who titles - although there's no word on a crossover yet.

Torchwood last aired on US and UK TV screens with the Miracle Day miniseries back in 2011.
