Kangana Ranaut has said that her National Award win came as a complete surprise.

The actress, who won the prestigious honour for her role in Queen, said the award holds much meaning to her since it is awarded for talent.

She told NDTV: "I was not anticipating this award. It came as a surprise and it's an honour I cherish. National Film Award is for talent, unlike commercial awards, which are TRP driven and based on commercial factors, item songs, lewd jokes and affairs."

She added that while her character in the film Rani from Rajouri has been loved by the public, she herself could not relate to her.

"Not at all. Rani is under confident and unsure. I am none if those."

Haider and Mary Kom were among the other big winners at the event.
