Ranbir Kapoor has dismissed rumours that he has asked for a pay rise.
The actor was last seen in the box office failure Besharam, which also starred his parents Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh.
He told NDTV: "I am jobless now... have no new films... hence this look. I don't know if you have seen [Besharam]. It is embarrassing to talk about the economics of business. Actors share profit and loss of a film. [Talk of my Rs 20 crore] hike is not true.
"I think there should be no difference between female and male actors. A female actor's contribution to a film is immense. I can't speak for anybody. I am a producer now and I understand the economics of a film. An actor shares profit as well as loss."
Besharam director Abhinav Kashyap has said that the media have a "vested interest" in panning his film.
Kapoor will be seen next playing a street fighter in Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet.
